San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs came to San Antonio back in 1973. They were the first professional sports team in town. Ever since then, San Antonians have loved having their own basketball team.

The team has grown better and more popular with every passing year. Their current home is the beautiful new AT&T; Center and we love our world champion Spurs! Every home game is filled to capacity with excited and enthusiastic fans, screaming with joy and anticipation as their heroes hit the home court. Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker are among our city’s biggest stars.

I went to the January 14, 2009 Spurs vs. Lakers game! It was a thrilling game, but the real reason we went was to see our son, Matthew, perform in the 200 Club lounge with the band he is in, Beyond Thursday. His music teachers’ band, Monkey Soop, also played. Go Spurs Go and Go Matthew Go!

The photo above is of the Coyote. If you watch our great team on TV, you are probably familiar with the Coyote.

Of course, the familiar-from-TV face of Coach Popovich is always on the sidelines, along with the almost-always present and fabulous superstar and retired Spur, David Robinson.

If you know you are going to be in San Antonio during basketball season and you want to see what it is like to be at a home game with the best team in the NBA, try to get tickets. You will love being at the game! Buy tickets as early as possible by calling (210)224-9600.

The basketball fans in your family will get the thrill of a lifetime when they experience our beloved Spurs up close and personal. Plus, many times, Eva Longoria is there (you know, the beautiful Gabby from Desperate Housewives) watching her handsome hubby, Tony Parker, help to bring yet another victory to the Spurs. During playoffs, a lot of Hollywood stars attend the game.

Be warned that Spurs fans love their team and get very noisy during games. Join in and cheer them on with us.

Bring extra money for parking, for concessions, and to buy Spurs souvenirs. Get ready to have an exciting evening!
