The San Antonio Silver Stars are our city’s professional women’s basketball team. They are part of the WNBA. They came to San Antonio in 2002, after they had been known as the Utah Starzz.
A silver fox wearing a Stars uniform is the mascot for the women’s basketball team.
Their popularity is slowly catching on, but it is a long way from the excitement brought on by the world-famous San Antonio Spurs! They are a good team and they do a great job playing ball.
Ticket prices for the Spurs games range from $10 to $100, sometimes more. Ticket prices for the Stars range from $8 to $25 so you can see there is a big difference. They all play in the same place. Every Spurs game is packed to capacity.
Stars games don’t come close to using half of the AT&T Center. Same thing goes for the Rampage Ice Hockey team. Both of these sporting teams are new to San Antonio and it takes a while, but their popularity is beginning to grow. Now all San Antonio needs is a professional football team!
